Casio Men’s GW810D-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Watch This watch is the same as the Mudman GW9000A-1 except for a metal case and band/plastic plated to look like metal instead of the GW9000’s heavy black resin bezel and band.
This makes for a very versatile, tough, and fully featured watch that looks more dressy than the Mudman. I’ve read that the plating (or is it painted) on some of the plastic can wear down to show the plastic underneath, but I’ve seen no evidence of that at all. On the contrary, my watch has seen the some of the same abuse that killed my non-Gshock watches and has come through w/out a scratch.
It has a great feature set. If you’ve ever had a Casio, you know how easy they are to learn to use. A feature I didn’t think I needed, but have come to love is the auto el feature. It automatically flashes the light on for just over a second if you look at the watch in the dark.
This watch is also cool because you can see the time of day when in in countdown timer mode.

This is a great watch if you want: solar charging, atomic time setting, world time, stopwatch, and countdown timer with a light. You can’t go wrong with this watch. Looking for something more blue collar? Try the GW9000A.

Casio Men’s GW7900B-1 G-Shock Solar Atomic Black Digital Sport Watch I have had the GW7900B for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. The watch is all black, and the digital face is inverted so that it is black with light gray for the numbers. That means the watch is pretty much all black, which is a very nice look. The inverted digital face does make it a little tough to read in low light situations, but the G button just below the watch face lights up the time, date and other information with the same kind of indiglo effect that I have had for years with Timex Ironman watches. The lighting effect makes this watch easy to read at any time. You also have the option to have the lighting effect happen with the turn of you wrist so you can see the watch information without having to push a button. This is a large watch. The body of the watch is almost 3/4 of an inch thick, which is the thickest watch I have come across. While it is a large watch, it is very light, because most of the body is plastic. The face of the watch is scratch resistant, and it is recessed into the watch about a quarter of an inch, so it is well protected.

The watch is loaded with features. 1) The time is set every night through radio signals from an atomic clock. Every night at a few minutes after midnight the watch will try to update the time from the atomic clock. If it is unable to update the time, then it will try again every hour through the night until it gets an update. This makes the watch very accurate. It has been off by less than half a second from any of my other atomic clocks or the atomic time that you can get over the internet. This will be the most precise watch you will probably ever own. 2) The battery on the watch is recharged by solar panels in the watch face. The fully charged battery is supposed to be able to last about nine months without a recharge, but the solar panel in the watch face picks up a charge in direct or indirect sunlight keeping the watch battery topped of unless you hide in a dark room all day. When I first received the watch the battery indicator showed the battery was a little low. I put the watch in indirect sunlight by setting it on a table by a window that the sun does not shine through. About 3 hours later I checked on the watch, and the battery was fully charged. Since then the battery has remained fully charged with just the partial sunlight the watch gets from me commuting to work. So I don’t expect any battery problems. A cool feature for those of you who may not use the watch for a while, it turns off late at night and will not turn back on until you pick it up. So the battery does not drain much if you do not use the watch. 3) I travel across the country for work, and the watch is very easy to reset to other time zones. It also has a world time feature that lets you check the time in every time zone around the world just by clicking through the different zones. 4) Like just about every digital watch this one also has a stop watch. The stop watch capabilities are not as thorough as sports watches. For example, you can get a split time, but you wouldn’t be able to take several split times like you could with a Timex Ironman watch. 5) The watch has a countdown timer so you can let yourself know when you need to stop what you are doing and move on to the next thing. 6) There is an alarm function that allows you to set four alarms and one alarm with a snooze feature. 7) The watch shows the phase of the moon and where tide is. The watch is water resistant to 20 bar, which converts to something like 170 meters. So you can pretty much wear the watch in most underwater conditions you will find yourself.

So to wrap things up, this is turning out to be a great watch for me. It is super accurate, does not look like it will ever need a battery change, and looks really nice. I recommend it, and I would buy it again.

Casio Men’s GWM5600BC-1 G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Watch This is a limited edition G-Shock, first of all. And it does not disappoint. It has all the recent technology that Casio has put in their most recent models. I’m talking about Atomic Technology and Touch Solar Technology. These two functions is what a digital watch should have, or I should say that every watch in the world should have.

First, you no longer need to worry about the battery. The watch is solar powered. It can last up to at least 5 months without exposure to sun. And charging time is 5 minutes in direct sun light. Only 5 minutes. The watch also has the power saver function so it actually helps the battery prolong the charge.

Second, and most importantly, the time. It has Atomic Technology. This means that the watch will get the most accurate time settings in the world. So when you look at your wrist, the time will be very accurate, and probably more accurate than any other watch out there in the market, except compared to other Atomic watches.

The strap is not the cheap resin rubber but a very hard and sturdy resign with stainless steel inserts along with PVD coating to help resist scratches and whatnot.

The watch itself does not feel cheap at all. It’s very heavy for a G-Shock and feels like it mean something.

All other functions are included, such as stop watch, world time, count down timer, auto el, etc.

The perfect watch for a die hard G-Shock collector, or for anyone just looking for a sturdy watch that you won’t shed a tear if you scratch it.

Casio Men’s MTG910DA-1V G-Shock MT-G Solar Atomic Watch I have had this watch for at least 2 years (sorry can’t remember exactly when I got it) but I bought it at Sam’s Club for pretty much the same price Amazon has it for and I can tell you that it is without a doubt the best watch I have ever owned. I have seen some reviews complaining about the black rubbing off in places and all I can say is that after all this time mine has like 98%+ of the finish and looks good. The time is always accurate and my watch syncs up about 4-5 AM CST every morning and yes some mornings it does not sync, uh like thats of no value unless you need micro-second accuracy every minute of the day. If it syncs only once a week its going to have the correct time within a second so that complaint is just stupid. I can attest to one problem, it has a feature that allows the backlight to come on when you turn your wrist (nice function late at night in bed or other low/no light situations), BUT use this function VERY sparingly since it will run your watch DEAD in a few days or less in most places (maybe not in the desert). I love the guy who subtracted stars because the “book was too small” WTF, this is a review of a watch, what you expect, a 8″ X 11″ ???? Anyway, I highly recommend this timepiece with one exception for me and that was as a runner, I bought a cheap Timex that has a stopwatch and a big button for backlight and is lightweight for that use since this is a big watch and somewhat heavy as watches go but not uncomfortably so except in the above situation. Love never having to do anything to a watch except wear it, BTW it sets itself to DST automatically unless you turn that function off (why would you do that, but it allows it) 4 Stars easy …..

Casio Men’s GW700A-1V G-Shock Solar Atomic Watch I recently decided to purchase a Casio G-shock after yet another Timex Ironman bit the dust. In case you haven’t already figured this out, Casio offers a bewildering number of G-shock watches. I compared lots of different models (700, 800, 530, 2800, 500, 810, etc. etc.), and eventually selected the GW700A-1V because it offered, IMO, the best combination of the following features that were important to me:
1. atomic time synch
2. resin band
3. reasonable size/bulk (some of the g-shocks can look like small appliances strapped to your arm…)
4. buttons that were fairly easy to press
5. good display size (I admit, my close-up vision is not what it once was, and some G-shocks have small, cramped displays. Note that the “font” size on this watch is not huge by any means, but it seemed larger than many other G-shock models.)
6. uncluttered display (this model only has one space-wasting dial vs. 3 or more on other models).

So far, I like the watch a lot (only had it a week, though). It synchs every night without issue to the Ft. Collins time signal (since I live in CO this is probably not a huge surprise). It looks good, and has all the features I need. As others have noted, the volume on the alarm is not very loud, so if you are a deep sleeper and plan to use this as your alarm clock, you might want to keep looking.

I am a bit skeptical of the solar battery, but time will tell. No issues so far. I looked for a G-shock model that had the atomic time synch and a conventional non-solar battery, but I don’t think that combination exists.

And definitely purchase this watch on-line… it was around 0 in the dept stores and can be found for much less on line.
