Omega Men’s 2909.50.83 Seamaster Planet Ocean Automatic Chronometer Watch The last sport watch you’ll ever need to buy.

This review refers to the Model 2218.50, XL version (45 mm case) with steel bracelet. The opinions of the movement, adjustment and reliability are also applicable to the model with rubber strap and leather / lizard strap.

This is a hefty timepiece, it weighs 9+ ounces (over half a pound), it feels and exudes quality and is bound to illicit a glance and a double take. The domed double anti glare sapphire crystal is super sharp and sometimes hard to determine it is even there.

The exterior is a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, most notably the trademark Omega horns are this blended finish.

The screw down crown is adorned with the Omega logo and easy to open, the first position enables manual winding for a power boost, the helium escape valve at 10:00 is adorned with the periodic symbol “He”.

Clockwise turns of the crown in second position adjusts the date forward, the date can’t be adjusted backwards. Time adjustment is easy and rapid; no adjustment for seconds is available.

The unidirectional bezel rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks and lines up perfectly with every second marker, the solid feel of the rotation is nothing less than you’d expect from an Omega.

The luminescent material of this watch is a glow magnet, just a few seconds exposure to sunlight or held close to a lamp will turn the face of this watch into a lighthouse! Combined with the chrome and split bezel hands of the subdials and this timepiece can be used as a signal mirror for low flying aircraft.

The Omega 3313 movement is identical to their 3303 movement except the 3313 has the co-axial escapement, this is the same movement inside the Omega DeVille and will be used in future models.

The accuracy of this watch is only surpassed by my Omega SeaMaster Quartz 300 2221.80, my Quartz Omega never loses or gains a second and the PO gains less than 5 seconds a week. The days I don’t wear it, I spend 60 seconds winding it and store it standing vertically for optimum movement.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I’ve performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

Overall, I’d recommend this watch for anyone who wants an exquisite sport timepiece which isn’t out of place at a formal, like all of the Omegas made before it; I expect this watch to endure for my grandchildren and their grandchildren.

Omega Men’s 3222.80.00 Speedmaster Day-Date Automatic Chronometer Chronograph Watch This is the most complicated mechanical/automatic watch I own. I bought this exact model a little over 2 years ago from an authorized dealer overseas. I remember debating over the blue versus black dial and eventually the blue won. The detail on the dial and inner dials is amazing and complement each other well. There are 8 hands total: hour, minute, second, 24-hour, timer minute, timer hour, timer second, and date hand. This chronograph does not keep elasped time but it does reset to zero instantly upon button push. The month and day are easy to read but the date is difficult to read due to small arrow tip and busyness of the outer edge of the dial. I often mistaken the date markers as minute markers when setting time. The lume is not as bright as my Rolex GMTIIc or Submariner but it’s probably because of their size. The reserve is very good when you wind it up. I’ve gotten 3 days before. I do have 2 minor complaints. One is setting the date. If you go past the date accidently, the only way to go back is to set the time back a whole 24 hours. The other is the rotor weight. You get a weird vibration feeling from the rotor rotating with sudden hand movements followed by a quick halt, like when you put your hand on a table right after you sit down. It can last for a few seconds. I do not get this feeling with either of my Rolexes. My guess is the weight of the rotor is more significant on the Omega. At any rate, I think this is one of the best looking non-”Co-Axial” Omega’s out there and will likely stay in my small collection for good. You can definitely tell this is a quality watch by the detail, weight, and tightness of the bracelet and clasp.

originally, i had a rolex submariner date, but like this watch much more and have now sold my rolex. i have big wrists, so the 45mm watch face looks better than a 39mm rolex submariner. in addition, since the submariner is “too popular”, this planet ocean stands out of the crowd—especially because of the red numbers. furthermore, it is now the official james bond watch

one catch is that the watch is very heavy, about 1/2 lbs, but that isn’t an issue for me. hope you enjoy the watch as much as i do!

I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.

This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a “best kept secret” sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical – NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality – a point often misunderstood – and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction – easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use – and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all – and EXCELLENT choice – especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

Definitely recommended!

First let me say I like watches. However, I do not like to pay a lot for watches. Those K+ watches interest me but I would never pull out my wallet to indulge my thirst. For me, value and performance must be part of a singular package and this a rare watch that satisfies my tough but economical demands.

Pros:

* Bullet proof. Had mine for over a year and this watch has surpassed all my expectations.
* The sound of the internal mechanism is almost musical. Put your ear to it and listen to the crystal like chimes.
* Zero scratches on the sapphire crystal or the top watch region and I am very abusive to my watches.
* Looks great in all attire without the over-the-top style. It is a bold watch but with a reserved humility.
* Bought it for 00 back in 2008 and it is worth every penny.

Cons:

* This is the mid-size model which is 36m. However, due to the design, it actually looks like 35m on the wrist due to a smaller sapphire crystal opening. It’s an optical illusion but as result, is only suitable for those with very small wrists.
* Wristband and especially the clasp plate area is very prone to scratch marks.
* Rotating bezel is prone to fine sand causing stuck or rigid rotation. This is not a design issue but something to think about when you get on the beach. If you do get sand or other fine debris in there, you can pop up the rotating bezel with a small swisswarmy knife blade and just brush it clean with a toothbrush.

The accuracy of this watch is only surpassed by my Omega SeaMaster Quartz 300 2221.80, my Quartz Omega never loses or gains a second and the PO gains less than 5 seconds a week. The days I don’t wear it, I spend 60 seconds winding it and store it standing vertically for optimum movement.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I’ve performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

Overall, I’d recommend this watch for anyone who wants an exquisite sport timepiece which isn’t out of place at a formal, like all of the Omegas made before it; I expect this watch to endure for my grandchildren and their grandchildren.

The Omega Aqua Terra with the 2500 Co-Axial Movement is an excellent timekeeper as its Chronometer rating demands out of a timepiece as this. In three weeks ownership with regular wear, I have been monitoring the accuracy on a daily basis, and so far I have been getting approximately 2+/- seconds per day which is extremely precise for a mechanical watch. And, the watch is a beauty, its gold hands and markers on a white slightly iridescent dial contrasts beautifully.

When I received my Aqua Terra it was packed in the usual Omega white box, within contained the typical red leather display box, but I was absolutely pleased what the latter contained. A Pristine satin finished metal bracelet watch that sparkled with quality. I really was torn between the Gold and Blue Hands & Markers. But I am so glad I chose the Gold! The Gold markers and hands add that touch of class that all can relate to. This is one classic looking, solid timepiece of high quality build that I say BUY! Get it before the price rises, which will be soon. I know it’s still a grey market watch, but Amazon leaves the serial numbers intact. A True Swiss Chronometer!

On a more technical description, the Caliber 2500 Co-Axial Movement is an Omega in-house production that has a COSC rated movement with 44 hour power reserve that utilizes a free sprung balance without index which maintains isochronism over a longer period of time. The Co-Axial escapement can also go 10 years without maintenance, however it is in my opinion that the watch me serviced within a 5 year period as other parts are dependant on proper lubrication. Also, if your watch is frequently used in or near water, you should have it pressure tested for a possible compromise in the seals once a year. Always check to make sure the crown is screwed-in securely if winding is required to ensure a tight water seal.
