This is my first G-shock (GW-6900, black) after many years. I’ve had it for about a month. I had one of the earlier standard models in the late 80’s early 90’s. In fact I missed having one, and I think this is a truly excellent example for all the same reasons I had the first one. All G-shocks are tough, accurate digitals(most are digitals), they tend to look practical and manly, and have all the ordinary digital watch type funcions. They are always good basic time keepers and are usual priced pretty reasonably. I see prices for the same model I had before, which they still make, either the same or just a little bit higher, after 20 years, depending on the outfit. This particular one(or series) with the “tough solar” powering, and “atomic” receiving funcions, has an edge on just about any other type of digital watch. It’s not just gimicy either, since it powers up well, stays powered up, and resets nightly and routinely with the signal reception. Even if the orientation isn’t optimum, it still almost always gets the reset signal, even with lousy weather. The advanced features are impressive. When you’ve gone though all sorts of watches, even the most basic mechanical kinds all the way back to when you were a kid, it’s the kind of stuff you notice. Finally, the frame is more standard style (for any 6900 type) for a G-shock and is especially robust. It has a good feel that way.
